I recently went and saw The Fighter, starring Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, and Amy Adams, a 2010 biographical sports film directed by David O. Russell. The Fighter has received mostly positive reviews. Critics have praised the performances of Wahlberg, Bale, and Adams. Review website Rotten Tomatoes reports that 89% of critics have given the film a positive review based on 165 reviews. The critical consensus is: “Led by a trio of captivating performances from Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, and Amy Adams, The Fighter is a solidly entertaining, albeit predictable, entry in the boxing drama genre.”
I must say that Christian Bale was my favourite actor in the film; his performance was amazing. I wasn’t very familiar with the plot going into the theatre, however, I had heard it was really good. My expectations were met, it was great. Christian Bale won the National Board of Review Award for Best Supporting Actor. The film was also nominated for six Golden Globe Awards. Best Picture (Drama), Best Actor (Drama) for Wahlberg, Best Supporting Actress for Leo and Adams, Best Supporting Actor for Bale, and a nomination for Best Director for Russell.
